Stand for Israel: Why Pray for Israel? : Stand for Israel: "Our Father in Heaven, Protector and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the first flowering of our redemption. Shield it beneath the wings of Your love and spread over it Your canopy of peace. Send Your light and truth to its leaders, officers, and counselors, and direct them with Your good counsel.

Strengthen the defenders of our Holy Land; O God, grant them salvation and crown them with victory. Establish peace in the land and everlasting joy for its inhabitants."

Michele Weldon: My Female Colleagues Told Me Not To Talk About The Abuse. I Did It Anyway

Michele Weldon: My Female Colleagues Told Me Not To Talk About The Abuse. I Did It Anyway: "The statistics released every year during Domestic Violence Awareness month contain the stories of hundreds and thousands of women who never anticipated they would be abused in their lifetime. According to the Domestic Violence Resource Center one in three women around the world will be abused in her lifetime. Three out of four women will know a woman who is abused.

What action can you take? You can speak up. For yourself, for a friend, for women you will never know personally. You can be known for your intolerance of violence against women. Say the jokes about "smacking her" are not funny. Say the songs with name-calling provoking violence against women are not amusing. Volunteer in your neighborhood at a domestic violence shelter. Say something if you hear about someone abusing a partner. Listen. Help. Do not walk away. And never advise anyone that telling the truth will ruin her career.

A Simple Life

Those of us who have many possessions or few can all be possessed by what we have—or don’t have. While Christians should live simply, the focus should not be on getting rid of what we have, but rather upon cultivating the disposition of “a life of joyful unconcern for possessions” (Richard J. Foster). Such a disposition will lead to actions and behaviors of simple living.

This study, based on an article The ‘Real’ Simple Life, by Matt Bell, will focus on what it means to live simply, and how we can cultivate an attitude of contentment.

Table of Contents

SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 26:1–11; Ecclesiastes 5:10–6:9; Matthew 6:25–33; Acts 2:44–47; 2 Corinthians 8:1–9; Hebrews 12:1; Revelation 3:17–20

LEADER'S GUIDE

    • Identify the Current Issue

    • Discover the Eternal Principles

Teaching point one: Money and material possessions do not make us content or bring us satisfaction. In fact, they can make us more unhappy and anxious.
Teaching point two: We should trust that God will take care of our needs—and therefore not be anxious.
Teaching point three: God’s people have an attitude of gratitude and practice generosity because of all that God has done for them.
Teaching point four: God’s people are characterized by the practice of sharing things with each other and contributing to the needs of the poor.
Teaching point five: Material things and prosperity can be a hindrance in our life as Christian pilgrims in this world. We need to lay aside those things that weigh us down.

Blessing

Our families came together, not as replacements, but as redemption through our willingness to love and be loved. We were being emancipated from grief itself. This didn't mean that grief ceased to exist in our lives. It meant grief could not hold us captive and rob us of our lives. This redemptive season brought forth a profound awareness that although our prayers didn't get answered according to what we wanted, God did answer.(www.zonderwan)

Thank You for being part of my life!May God bless You and Your familly.

For begging beauty
one can hardly blame the artist

sleeping like butter in the sun
taking no action for action

some prefer being a yellow rose petal
I learned when I traveled

the young poet saying a prayer
is a form of panic"

The biography of Khalil Gibran - life story: "Then said a rich man, "Speak to us of Giving."

And he answered:

You give but little when you give of your possessions.

It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.

For what are your possessions but things you keep and guard for fear you may need them tomorrow?"

Martha Marcy May Marlene | Movies & TV | Christianity Today: "Martha Marcy May Marlene: the way past pain can make us vulnerable, the devastating nature of psychological manipulation, the ability of one person to control and define others, the paralyzing power of fear. Honestly, this movie haunted me for days, and the friend I saw it with said the same. It felt like it left an icky residue on my mind and my soul."

H. D.- Poets.org - Poetry, Poems, Bios & More: "As Alicia Ostriker said in American Poetry Review, "H.D. by the end of her career became not only the most gifted woman poet of our century, but one of the most original poets—the more I read her the more I think this—in our language."

Neglect of H. D. can also be attributed to her times, as many of her poems spoke to an audience which was unready to respond to the strong feminist principles articulated in her work. She died in 1961."
